PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT FOR PARENTALITY
Professional support for parentality, mainly through therapeutic consultation and many other clinical methods, allows interventions that mobilize the family conflicts that obstruct child development. Such intervention can help bring about change in the family dynamics, leading parents towards finding joy in their parental functions.
Lebovici introduced metaphoric empathy and enaction as elements of the therapeutic consultation allowing a kind of co-construction between clinician and patient.
Parentality support can be given through :
- Pregnancy accompaniment
- Post-natal support
- Supporting the relationship between parents and premature or handicapped children
- Support for learning and behavioral difficulties with children
- Counseling in teenage crises and family life
- Support for social problems such as transplanted families, poverty, violence etc.
